Erma Lust, 85, of New Sharon, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Northern Mahaska Specialty Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born July 28, 1930, in Mahaska County the daughter of Willard N. and Esther F. Ruby McCartney.
Erma graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1948. On August 28, 1954, she was united in marriage to Charles Lust, Jr. at Columbus, Ohio. Charles died July 31, 1998.
Erma worked for J.C. Penney’s for over 30 years. She started in the printing department for Penny’s, then she transitioned into a sales position. She retired from there in 1995.
Erma enjoyed going to the sprint car races in Knoxville, reading, tending to her outdoor cats, and working in her yard.
Erma is survived by nieces and nephews; and her close friends, Mike and Tami Bair of New Sharon.
In addition to her husband, Erma was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, LeRoy McCartney; a sister, Betty Hanna; and her close friend Keith Pearson.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11:00 in the Bates Funeral Chapel.
