E.B.F.H.S. Jazz Band Places 2nd at Indian Hills
On Saturday, February 27th, the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Jazz Band placed 2nd in class 2A at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival in Ottumwa. Several members of the band earned Outstanding Soloist Awards for their solo performances: Maggie Voyles; piano, Delanee Van Zante; Alto Sax, Cyrus Rogers; Tenor Sax, Sara Loving; Trumpet, Andrew Hart; trombone, Dylan Howard; Drums, Carson Burrell; Vibes, and Kendal Durst; Bass Guitar.
The bands’ next competition will be Saturday March 5th at the District Jazz Contest at Iowa City West High School. EBF performs at 4:45. Bands that place 1st or 2nd at the district contest will qualify to compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships on April 5th. The band will perform in concert with the junior high jazz band on Tuesday March 15th at the EBFHS Cafetorium. EBFHS Jazz I will also be performing at the Night of Jazz at the Daily Auditorium on Friday April 1st with the Oskaloosa and North Mahaska Jazz Bands.
