Colleen Fox, 85 of New Sharon passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House. Colleen Fox, the daughter of Homer and Zella (Kirby) Briggs, was born July 3, 1930 in New Sharon, Iowa.

Colleen graduated from New Sharon High School in 1948. She was married to Wayne Fox on August 22, 1948. To this union two children were born, Leann and Gene. They later divorced.

Colleen was a lifelong resident of New Sharon and owned Stockman’s Inn Cafe for several years before buying Jean’s Cafe in New Sharon. She then owned and operated Colleen’s Maid Rite in New Sharon before moving to Des Moines to attend AIB College of Business. While in Des Moines, Colleen worked for Highland Potato Chip as their book keeper. She returned to New Sharon in the early 2000’s and lived in the Prairie Homes Apartments.

Colleen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the New Sharon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and above all her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her memory will be honored by her son, Gene (& Kathy) Fox of New Sharon; Five grandchildren: Wesley (& Melanie) Hasley, Susan (& Michael) Lyons, Alicia (& Michael) Call, Erica (& J.D.) Griffith, and Caleb (& fiance, Katie Tokle) Fox; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Louise Doonan of Pella; a son-in-law, Ray Hasley and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Leann Hasley and two brothers, Melvin Briggs and Wavern Briggs.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in New Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MHP Hospice Serenity House.
