On March 2, 2016 your child will participate in the Oskaloosa Elementary Read-A-Thon Fundraiser, which is the only student-involved fundraiser conducted by the OEPTO during the year. Each class will set aside one hour from their day and read independently or will have “Classroom Guest Readers” reading to them. When we meet our collection goal, the students will have the opportunity to see their principals slimed! This year’s goal is $14,000 (an average donation of $20/student would raise over $20,000).

Your child will collect pledges based on their commitment to reading for one hour on March 2. All money is due before the Read-A-Thon event and should be turned in, in this envelope, to the classroom teacher. You may also check with your employer to see if they make matching donations and remember that OEPTO is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization thus your donation may be tax deductible depending on your filing status.

In addition to having the opportunity to see the principals slimed, s tudents and faculty are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas on this day. The class who collects the most overall money, will win a Pizza Party for their class! The top class from each grade level can have their teacher slime the principal. In addition, if any class has 100% participation they will win a popcorn party!

All money raised is allocated to PTO programs, special events for the children, or equipment for the elementary school and classrooms. Events include, but are not limited to:student field trips/in-house programs, book fairs, holiday movies, school t-shirts for new students, grade level activities, DARE Graduation, last-day-of-school events, etc. Currently PTO programs cost approximately $50 per Oskaloosa Elementary School student per year.

If you would like to learn more about the PTO or volunteer for PTO activities, please join us at the February 28th meeting at 5:30 pm at the Oskaloosa Elementary School.

Thank You!

P.S. Remember your pajamas on March 2, 2016!
