Oskaloosa, Iowa – Lowering energy costs is one way the Oskaloosa School District is looking to save money.

The district has recently been installing LED lighting systems to replace the florescent lamps in its facilities.

MidAmerican Energy will refund up to 80% of the cost with labor, with a maximum amount per light fixture. With labor supplied by the district, an 80% rebate meant that the district received a check in the amount of $72,365.00 to the district. That amount capped out the rebate amount offered by MidAmerican Energy based upon their total refund per unit.

Because of the reasonable price for the fixture and the labor, “You ended up with a very high rebate,” said Mitch Frazier with MidAmerican Energy.
