SHARE Iowa Hires New Community Developer

Oskaloosa, February, 2016: SHARE Iowa is pleased to announce its recent hire of Jen Gillespie as Community Developer. Gillespie will be responsible for increasing awareness and participation in existing host sites, work on the development of new host sites, and facilitate volunteer training programs.

“I was attracted by SHARE Iowa’s mission to promote volunteerism through the sale of affordable food packages and the commitment that our director has to combating food insecurity at a local level,” Gillespie said. “I believe tremendous empowerment comes from the kind of self-reliance that SHARE Iowa offers participants. Our program allows a family to purchase a variety of different food packages each month, all at up to 50% off retail prices.”

Gillespie comes to SHARE Iowa with a background in financial services and customer service. Her previous positions included outreach efforts, including presentations, training seminars, event planning and creating marketing materials. This background has helped Gillespie to make an easy transition into her current position with SHARE Iowa.

“Many people are unaware that the SHARE program is open to everyone in their community – there are no income guidelines. An important aspect of this position is to spread the word about SHARE Iowa; I’m available to do presentations to groups and civic organizations, and speak with anyone interested in setting up a host site in their area.”
