One Killed In Thursday Morning Crash

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Emergency crews were dispatched early Thursday morning, around 7:45am, to a single vehicle accident at mile marker 60, near the junction of Highway 163 and Highway 63, just south of Oskaloosa.

The Calls for Service report states that a vehicle hit a bridge column and was on fire, with an occupant still inside the vehicle.

The early report states the accident was fatal in nature, but the identity of the victim has not been released.

The Iowa State Patrol release the victims name on Friday, identifying Alan Shearer, 44, of Ottumwa.

The Oskaloosa Fire Department, Oskaloosa Police Department, Mahaska County Sheriffs Office, Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services and the Iowa State Patrol all responded, aided by Mahaska 911 Dispatchers.
