Theola Patricia (Maloy) Lobberecht, age 91, of Eddyville, Iowa, died September 11, 2015 with her family by her side at The Mahaska Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Theola was born January 16, 1924 in rural Monroe County, Iowa to Orville and Eva Pearl (Krizer) Maloy.
Theola graduated early from high school, receiving her teaching certificate.
She taught at a country school, where she met her husband Fred Lobberecht when bringing his younger siblings to school. She continued to teach and raise her family for a short time before she stopped teaching and stayed home with her children. Later she worked for Shahan’s Veteran’s Home, cleaning homes and caring for others for many years, until she retired at the age of 82.
In 1979 she graduated from Indian Hills Community College receiving her practical nursing degree. Her nursing career spanned several years, caring for people in the Oskaloosa Nursing Facilities.
Theola is survived by her children: Shirley (& G. Richard) Hynick of Eddyville, Gary (& Joellen) Lobberecht of Puyallup, WA, Steve (& Sondra) Lobberecht of Eddyville, Fredric Lobberecht of Eddyville, Patricia (& Russ) Schlotter of Eddyville, Michael (& Lori) Lobberecht of Oskaloosa, Michelle Lobberecht of Oskaloosa, and David (& Cassie) Lobberecht of New Sharon; 26 grand and step grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; a sister, Arlene VanKlavern of Oskaloosa, a brother, Donald (& Alta Mae) Maloy of rural Eddyville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lobberecht; brother, Marvin Maloy; son-in-law, Henry Schaper; and three grandsons: Michael Lobberecht, Tim Lobberecht and Kyler Schaper.
Visitation for Theola will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Theola’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Monday evening.
Funeral services for Theola will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Michael Omundson officiating.
Burial will follow services at the Highland Cemetery of Eddyville.
A memorial has been established to Theola’s family.
The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Theola’s family with services.
