Evelyn Randell, 100, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab in Oskaloosa. She was born June 4, 1915, the daughter of Ray Milton and Emma Leticia Lloyd Welton.

Evelyn graduated from Cedar High School. Following graduation, she continued her education and received her teaching certificate. She taught school at Unity School in Wright, Iowa, and at Cedar Consolidated School in Cedar, Iowa. On June 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Raymond Warren Randell at the Wright Union Methodist Church in Wright. Evelyn and Raymond lived and farmed near Cedar, Iowa for many years. They had three children, Raymond, Jr., Deonne, and Robert.

Evelyn was a member of: Toast Mistress Club; Mahaska County 4-H, where she served as a leader; 5:45 Club; and was a very active member of the Cedar United Methodist Church. She was also involved with Women’s Society Christian Services through the church.

Her family includes her three children: Raymond Randell, Jr. of Oskaloosa, Deonne Nash of Port Byron, Illinois, and Robert (& Crystal) Randell of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren: Robert Nash, Michelle Franzen, Melissa Gingrich, Laura Stone, Melinda Karl, Charles Randell, and Anne Black; twelve great grandchildren; four sisters: Vida Reed of Arlington, Texas, Neva Shadley of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Alice Barnard of Oskaloosa, and Rae Turley of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 1980; a son in law, Raymond Nash; and a sister, Martha Jane Youngker.

As was Evelyn’s wish, her body has been cremated and no services are planned.
There will be a private family burial in the Forest Cemetery at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar United Methodist Church and mailed to Post Office Box 207, Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577.
