Oskaloosa, Iowa – Fire devastated a long-time Oskaloosa restaurant on Thursday morning.

Oskaloosa Fire Chief Mark Neff said that the fire department was called to the scene of a fire at the Oskaloosa Pizza Hut, 1503 A Ave E, location around 1:30am Thursday.

Neff said that when fire crews arrived, fire was coming out of the back of the building area, with fire also extending into the kitchen area of the restaurant. Neff added that “Crews got in and got the fire knocked down,” but that the establishment has heavy smoke damage.

Neff said they know what part of the building the fire originated from, but no cause for the fire has yet been determined as of 9:00 am Thursday morning.

Fourteen firefighters were on scene for over an hour and a half.
