Traffic Stop Turns Up Meth Says Oskaloosa PD
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Police Department says they arrested a subject that had 39 grams of methamphetamine in their vehicle.
According to court documents, an Oskaloosa Police officer initiated a motor vehicle stop, and determined that the driver of the vehicle had their license suspended for non-payment of Iowa fines.
According to the affidavit, “I placed him under arrest and the vehicle was impounded. In the vehicle officers located a baggie with what field-tested as methamphetamine. This baggie contained approximately 39 grams. The defendant had $5202.00 dollars in cash on his person. This is not anywhere typical for personal use and is very consistent with possessing with the intent to deliver.”
According to court documents, Gerritt Messamaker of Oskaloosa is facing a Class B Felony controlled substance violation as well as a Class D Felony for no drug tax stamp.
A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
