Richard L. Ford, 69, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born Saturday, May 18,, 1946, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of L.V. and Betty Cox Ford.
Richard attended school in Kansas. Following school, Richard joined the U.S. Navy Reserves. On May 6, 1972, Richard was united in marriage to Connie E. Olds, she died April 16, 2014.
Richard worked at the Post Office in Hutchinson, Kansas, the City of Chase, Kansas and the State of Kansas. He retired from Young Motors in Lyons, Kansas. In 2011, Richard and Connie moved to Oskaloosa.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling. Richard especially enjoyed the western United States adventure that he took with his brother Jack, last October. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by a son, Jerry (& Rose) Olds of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Theresa (& Daryl) Sanders of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren: Shelah (& Mark) Strempke, Ronnie Sanders and Caleb Sanders; a great granddaughter, Kinley Strempke; and three brothers: Larry (& Linda) Ford of Jasper, Texas, Robert (& Patty) Ford of Reno, Nevada and Jack Ford of Great Bend, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Ford; his parents; a great granddaughter, Brecklyn Gish; a brother, Tom Ford; and a sister-in-law, Thelia Ford.
As was his wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
