Belgium Waffles coming to 1st CRC

The Youth Group of the First Christian Reformed Church invites members of the community to a waffle supper featuring Dad’s Belgium Waffles, Wednesday, November 18 from 5-7 pm at 1st Christian Reformed Church, 815 N 11th St., Oskaloosa serving all-you-can-eat malted Belgian waffles, nine flavors of syrup, whipped cream and butter toppings, sausages and drink. Dine in or carry out boxes available. Free will donation will be taken with proceeds to support their summer mission trip.

On December 13 they plan to host a Candlelight Service at 6 pm in the church with fellowship and refreshments to follow. The program has been chosen by the high school seniors and will feature readings, music, instruments, message by Pastor Visser and of course the lighting of candles. The story of Christmas is the story of God bringing comfort to his people. It is the story of God coming down into this world to pay for our sins. God came into this world in a most unusual way: He came as a baby. And the story of his birth takes place in the most unexpected places. Throughout the service one will visit these places and witness the story of Christ’s birth unfolding.

The name, IGNITE, was the name chosen by this group in an effort to be more inviting and caring. What was formerly known as Young People’s and Youth Group is now IGNITE — based on the Bible verse 2 Timothy 1:6, “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you.” Through attendance at IGNITE, the youth in grades 9 through12 of 1st CRC Oskaloosa will be in an environment helpful to discover and utilize their gifts to God’s glory. Community youth are invited to join at any time.

If you have any questions about IGNITE, the Waffle Supper, or the Candlelight Service, call the church at 641.673.4272 or email firstcrcosky@mahaska.org.
