Letter To The Editor: It’s that time of year … time to play a role in your community’s future.

It’s easy to ignore elections when it is not a Presidential Election year. It’s easy to ignore going to the polls and casting your vote for any number of reasons, but I respectfully request you mark your calendars, set reminders, place post-it notes on your refrigerator – whatever it takes for you to remember to “Vote November 3.” All elections are important. Every single vote is important – even those elections where, in Oskaloosa’s case, only two contested council seats are on the ballot. Please remember to vote November 3. And when you are voting, please consider casting your vote to re-elect Oskaloosa At Large Council Member Joe Caligiuri. Joe takes his time to listen to all sides of an issue and casts his votes with all of the people in mind, keeping the future of Oskaloosa at the forefront of his decision making. He’s approachable, looks you in the eye, takes your concerns to heart, and follows the rules and protocol of an exemplary Councilman. He’s worked hard for four years, he’ll continue to work hard for us. And I’d like to see candidate for the 4th Ward Steve Burnett working right alongside Joe. Steve is also very approachable, has an understanding of economic development and planning issues, brings both business and common sense to the table, and has demonstrated a passion for serving and representing all 4th Ward Constituents.

They both have my vote, but whomever you choose to represent you, it’s that time of year; a time when your vote can make a world of difference. Please feel free to pass this message on if you so choose, but more importantly, please vote November 3.

Thank you for your time.

Pam Blomgren
