William Moran
Barnes City. William Moran, 89 of Barnes City passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with Pastor Boyd Sparks officiating. Inurnment with military honors will be held at the Barnes City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the family’s name.
William Robert Moran, son of William and Augusta (Hough) Moran was born on August 10, 1920 in Saranac Lake, New York. He graduated from high school in New York. Bill attended Cornell University until he enlisted in the United States Army in 1939. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Bill worked as a chef in several states for 55 years before retiring. He was united in marriage to Edna Carpenter in 1992. Bill enjoyed building doll houses and doll house furniture.
His memory is honored by his three daughters, Pearl Lupo of Kings City, California, Edna Lindsey of Andrew, Iowa and Josephine Provin of Barnes City.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Augusta Moran and his wife Edna Moran.
