Ronald Hudson, 77, of Centerville passed away on October 5, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.

Ronald was born on April 18, 1938 to Arthur and Josephine (Conger) Hudson in Mendota, MO. He attended Cincinnati High School, playing boys’ basketball. Ronald graduated in 1956. After graduation, he played in the men’s slow pitch softball league for Cincinnati. Ronald joined the Navy in November 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He married Virginia Malloy and together they had two children, Larry and Veronica. They later divorced. Ronald met and married Diana (Thomasson) Whaley in 1976 and together they had one son, Scott.

Ronald worked road construction and for Coca-Cola Distribution. He then worked at Union Carbide Corporation in Centerville and Viskase in Kentland, Indiana. He worked for 33 years as a Production Manager until he retired on August 31, 1997.

Ronald enjoyed the great outdoors by fishing, boating, squirrel and mushroom hunting and was an avid bird watcher. He shared this love of the outdoors with his grandchildren, giving them boat rides, fishing lessons, BB gun shooting lessons.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Diana, daughter; Veronica (Kirk) Montgomery of Oskaloosa, two sons; Larry Hudson of Oskaloosa and Scott (Kristi) Hudson of Hoopston, Il, two brothers, Jerry (Bonnie) Hudson of Davenport, IA and Glen Hudson of Iowa, sister Rosemary (Bobby) Logston of Cincinnati, IA, seven grandchildren; Chaley (Eric) Schultz, Ben and Jake Montgomery, Bartley Hudson, and Jessica, Sam and Sean Hudson, and two great grandchildren; Aubrey and Dane Schultz. He was preceded by his parents.

Services for Ronald will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. Memorial may be given to West Christian Church or to the family. Condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
