Osky 7th Grade Volleyball Falls To Knoxville

The 7th grade girls’ volleyball teams has been in action a lot over the last several days. The girls lost to Knoxville last Thursday in 2-3 with scores of 13-15, 15-11, 9-15, 15-6 and 12-15 to take their record to 4-2.

They were back in action on Saturday in the Grinnell Tournament where they went 2-0 against Grinnell and South Tama to bring their record to 6-2. Against Grinnell the scores were 21-10, 21-13, and 21-15. The team was led by Abby Braundmeier with 7 aces followed by Sophia Dykstra, Ellie Henry with 5, Jillian Jennings and MaKenna Schaffner with 4, and Kaylee Johnson and Hayle Hacker with 1 a piece. Hacker had 2 kills and Johnson with 1.

Against South Tama, the scores were 21-14, 21-19, and 18-21. They were led by Sophia Dykstra with 6 aces followed by Hayle Hacker with 4 and Jillian Jennings with 1. Kaylee Johnson, Jennings, and Abby Braundmeier had 1 kill a piece.

The girls continued their winning ways on Tuesday against Newton with scores of 10-15, 15-12, 15-3, 15-3, 11-15 for a record of 7-2. The team was led by Sophia Dykstra with 10 aces, Makenna Schaffner with 5, and Abby Braundmeier, Hayle Hacker, and Jillian Jennings with 2 aces a piece. Kaylee Johnson had a kill on the night.

The B team has also been in action in going 2-2 over the last 4 games to bring their record to 4-5.

They lost against Knoxville with scores of 9-15, 4-15, 13-15, 15-13, and 2-15.

They were back in action against Grinnell and South Tama on Saturday going 1-1. The scores in the loss against Grinnell were 17-21, 21-14, and 14-21. The team was led by Katelynn Moore and Samara Shilling with 6 aces followed by Kiara Bjornson, Cecilia Nicolas, and Akeylah Lawrence with 1 ace a piece.

They got back on the winning ways against South Tama with scores of 21-17, 21-11, and 12-21. They were led by Katelynn Moore with 10 aces followed by Samara Shilling with 4, Kiara Bjornson with 3, Cecilia Nicolas with 2, and Jasmine Chavez, Akeylah Lawrence and Linnett Ramirez with 1 a piece.

They continued the dominance against Newton with a 5-0 win with scores of 15-9, 15-5, 15-7, 15-7, and 15-10. The team was led by Katelynn Moore with 8 aces followed by 6 aces from Samara Shilling, Kiara Bjornson with 4 and Cecilia Nicolas with 1.

The C team was in action against Newton and earned their 2nd victory of the season with scores of 15-4, 15-7, 5-15, 15-12, and 3-15. They were led by Rachel Rice with 8 aces followed by Ryan Meeth with 4, Jayden Moore with 2 and Lauren Milledge with 1.

The D team fought hard, but came up short with a 2-3 loss against Newton with scores of 16-18, 10-15, 6-15, 15-9 and 15-2. The team was led by Makayla Covey with 15 aces, Kerrie Anderson with 14 and Emme Josko with 3.

The girls continue to improve each day and we are looking for a clean sweep against Pella in our last action of the season for the whole team next Monday at home.
