Harold Fox, 95, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. He was born June 18, 1920, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Bruce D. and Leila Bennett Fox.

Harold graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1938. On June 18, 1942, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Binns at Kahoka, Missouri. Harold worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 4 years and 2 months during the war. Following his time at the arsenal, he went to work for the United States Postal Service, retiring from there after over 28 years. In his career at the Post Office he walked the equivalent of eight times around the world.

He was a member of the St. Paul Congregational Church for over 50 years, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and AARP. Harold enjoyed playing Cribbage, fishing, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and square dancing. He and Dorothy enjoyed wintering in Arizona for 29 years, he made it a point to never walk in the snow after retirement.

His family includes his wife of over 73 years, Dorothy Fox of Oskaloosa; three sons and their wives: Glenn (& Shirley) Fox of Des Moines, Steve (& Linda) Fox of Rose Hill, and John (& Debra) Fox of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren: Charlene (& Greg) Tulley, Michelle Fox, Jason (& Angie) Fox, Eric (& Kristen) Fox, and Aaron (& Teresa) Fox; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and several cousins.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Liz Colton officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Harold Fox Memorial Fund.
