Over 400 fans showed up at the stadium at the Lacey Complex on Saturday August 29th at the Oskaloosa Youth Football’s 1st Annual Football Jamboree. Fifth and 6th grade competed in the morning and in the afternoon 3rd and 4th grade took the field. Teams included those from Oskaloosa, New Sharon, Sigourney and Eddyville. A good time was had by all as defense went up against offense, coaches gave game playing tips and general camaraderie was evident on the sidelines. Quentin Plate, one of the youth football team leaders and organizers of the jamboree, stated, “The jamboree was in rememberance of the Singletary family and their loss of thier boys Jamie, Carson and Christian last month.” One of the Singletary boys played for Oskaloosa Football last year and, in that memory, the team had decals made up and placed on the back of all teams helmets. Quentin told his players to look at the decal in rememberance and keep the family in thier thoughts and prayers.
