Plant Some Shade

Iowa State University Extension

Iowa State University Extension

MidAmerican Energy Company, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Mahaska County Extension, is proud to offer the Plant Some Shade® residential tree-planting program, which provides affordable (only $30 each) and desirable landscape-sized (3-8′) trees for its residential customers to purchase and plant on their properties for long-term energy savings, community reforestation and beautification.

Oskaloosa will be holding a distribution on Saturday September 26th from 9-11 am. This opportunity is for MidAmerican Energy residential customers only but is not limited only to those living within the Oskaloosa city limits, as any residential customer can participate. Preordering and prepayment are required, and preordering is limited to two (2) trees per household. Additional trees MAY be available for purchase on-site the day of the event. Southern Iowa Fairgrounds is the site for the distribution.

Evan Miller, Some Shade coordinator with the Iowa DNR, will be speaking about the program at the Mahaska County Extension office on Thursday September 3rd at 7 pm. The presentation is free and open to the public. Prior registration is not required to attend, but appreciated.
