Roger Alan Carmer, 58, of Oskaloosa died August 14, 2015 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Room. He was born Saturday, February 16, 1957 in Oskaloosa, the son of Donald and Janice Damerval Carmer.

Following school, Roger farmed for a while and later did electrical work. He then worked for a time at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa until his health declined and was no longer able to work.

In December of 2012, Roger was united in marriage to Valerie Crane in Oskaloosa.

Roger loved mushroom hunting, rock and arrowhead hunting and had a great love for nature.

His family includes his wife, Valerie Carmer of Oskaloosa; a son, Terry Carmer of Oskaloosa; two brothers: Denny (& Debbie) Carmer of Oskaloosa, and Greg (& Chris Krile) Carmer of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Terry Carmer.

As was his wish, Roger’s body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
