Join the Mahaska County Conservation Board and other local conservation groups for a whole day of hands-on outdoor activities for kids! The 12th Annual Youth Outdoor Field Day will take place on Saturday, September 26 from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm at the Russell Wildlife Area. This year’s event activities include archery, bowfishing, .22 rifle and BB gun shooting, fishing, wild game cleaning and cooking and more.

The cost is $5.00 per child and the fee includes a t-shirt and lunch for the child and one adult lunch. Parents are encouraged to stay for the day and children under 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult. This event is held rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather.

Pre-registration is required and the registration deadline is at noon on September 10. Registration is limited to the first 225 participants. No registrations will be taken on the day of the event. A printable registration form is found at www.mahaskaconservation.com.

The Russell Wildlife Area is located at 2254 – 200th Street, New Sharon, IA which is 4 miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street.
