Marilyn Arthur, 73 formerly of Grinnell went to her eternal home August 7, 2015 at the Pella Comfort House. Marilyn Jean Arthur was born August 6, 1942 to Edward I. Rhoades and Irma A. Hesse, in Le Mars, Iowa.

Marilyn attended Bear Creek Country School, Fiedler School and Eldon High School. She was united in marriage to Errol Dixon on May 13, 1967. They were blessed with three daughters: Rhonda, Roxanna and ReChelle. They were married for 13 years. December 17, 1986, she was united in marriage to Steve Arthur. Prior to moving to Lynnville, Iowa, she and Steve lived in Connecticut, South Carolina, Alaska and Missouri. They were married for 29 years.

Marilyn was a stay at home mom and ran a home day care while her daughters were in school. Later she was employed as a nanny.

Marilyn enjoyed going to her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed camping and meeting new people. She and Steve also raised miniature donkeys prior to moving back to Iowa.

Marilyn’s memory will be honored by her husband, Steve Arthur of Lynnville; daughters: Rhonda (& John) Bowling of Pella, Roxanna (& Dan) Twedt of Huxley, and ReChelle (& Gregg) Moorman of Ogden; stepsons: Chad and his family, of Alaska, and Bobby and his family, of Washington; a sister, Catherine (& Keith) Hewitt of Ottumwa; a brother, Darrell (& Bonnie) Rhoades of Ottumwa; grandchildren: Brett Roof, Eric Moyer, Stephani Moyer Castillo, Madisyn Moorman, Lance White, Sarina Moorman; great grandchildren: Salarah and Sapheah Castillo, and Beckett Roof. She was an aunt, great aunt and great great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Marilyn had a deep love for her Lord and Savior as well as her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Rhoades; her mother, Irma Clark; her step father, Tom Clark; and two grand babies.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Mayflower Home in the Buckley Dinning Room, 614 Park St. Grinnell, Iowa, Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pella Comfort House, 404 Union St., Pella, Iowa.
