New Sharon, Iowa | Age 13

Carson Singletary, 13, of New Sharon passed away Thursday afternoon, August 6, 2015, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Carson Jeffery Singletary, the son of Sara (Porter) Hicklin and Gary Singletary, was born on February 19, 2002 in Gainesville, Florida.

Carson was going to be an eighth grader at North Mahaska High School. Carson played basketball, football and ran track. His goal was to be recruited and play basketball for the Iowa State Cyclones.

All summer you could find Carson on his bike or playing basketball with his friends around his old neighborhood. He loved to fish, hunt and look for toads in puddles. During the summer months, Carson would mow his grandparents yard, and even when the wheel fell off of the mower he would get a bolt from his bike to fix the mower so he could finish mowing the lawn. Carson was very determined and never complained about anything. He loved his family, especially his mother who gave him a special nickname, “Princess”.

Carson’s memory will be honored by his parents, Sara and Aaron Hicklin of New Sharon; his biological father, Gary Singletary of Gainesville, FL; a brother, Garrett Singletary of New Sharon; a sister, Makenzie Singletary of New Sharon; grandparents: Marty (& Stephanie) Templeton, Tammy Templeton, Donna Keller, Terry (& Linda) Steele, Mike (& Sherrin) Hicklin, Jeffery Singletary and Susan Singletary; great grandparents, Dean and Mary Porter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Carson was preceded in death by a grandfather, Larry Porter.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the North Mahaska High School Auditorium.
Burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery east of New Sharon.
Visitation will begin after 2:00 pm Monday, August 10, 2015 at the North Mahaska High School Auditorium with the family present from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the family’s name to be determined at a later date.
