Bruce Lewis, 77 of rural Searsboro, passed away peacefully Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home. Bruce Clark Lewis, the son of Glenn and Margaret (Renaud) Lewis, was born on June 20, 1938 near Searsboro, Iowa.
Bruce graduated from Searsboro High School in 1956. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged in 1959 following three years of service.
On August 20, 1960, Bruce was united in marriage to Deloris “Kay” Kono at the Methodist Church in Colfax, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Glenn, Scott and Debra.
Bruce was a salesman at JC Penny’s in Newton before returning to the family farm near Searsboro in 1962. He also worked part-time at the Searsboro Elevator.
Bruce enjoyed mushroom hunting and deer hunting. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay Lewis of rural Searsboro; three children: Glenn (& Cristin) Lewis of Lynnville, Scott (& Lisa) Lewis of Ankeny, and Debra Lewis of Newton; four grandchildren: Ryan (& Frances) Lewis, Rebecca (& Kyler) Kudart, Sarah Lewis, and Amanda Lewis; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Lewis; one brother, Gordon (& Mattie) Lewis; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Lewis.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Margaret Lewis; and a brother, Russ Lewis.
As was his wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned.
