Melissa Williams, 40, of Marion and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, August 3, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born January 10, 1975, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Lyle and Melinda Myers Williams.

Melissa graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1994. Following graduation she worked as a caregiver to family members.

Melissa enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for Jeff Gordon. She also enjoyed bowling. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals especially her dog Maci.

Her family includes her parents, Lyle and Melinda Williams of Oskaloosa; a brother, John Williams of Oskaloosa; a sister, Tabatha (& Bobby) Vanderhyde of Oskaloosa; three nephews, Joshua, Michael, and Austin Vanderhyde; and a niece, Samantha Vanderhyde.

Melissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lowell and Edith Myers and paternal grandparents Fred “Tarzan” and Mildred Williams; two uncles, Fred Williams and Oscar Myers; and Life Partner Raylene Fleming.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Andy Baker officiating.
Burial will be in the Beacon Cemetery west of Beacon. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at 11.
