Doloris Rae Nelson, 82, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She was born November 20, 1932, at Ellston in Ringgold County, Iowa, the daughter of Osmond Walter and Erma Mary Fenton Miller.

In 1952, Doloris was united in marriage to Richard A. Black, Sr. To this union two children were born, Richard, Jr. and Denise. On August 20, 1965, Doloris was united in marriage to James D. Nelson at Des Moines. To this union three daughters were born, Sandra, Orla, and Belinda. James died September 17, 2005.

Doloris’ life centered on her family, traveling and pets. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was loved by everyone that knew her.

She will be fondly remembered by her children: Richard (& Andrea) Black, Jr., Denise (& Tom) Nord, Sandra (& Chris) Sanders, Orla (& Tom) Stodghill, and Belinda Nelson; six grandchildren: Alan and Sarah Sanders, Logan and Joshua Nord, and Olivia and Andrew Stodghill; her siblings: Dudley (& Elaine) Miller and Dorinne DeGroote; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband James, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marvin and David Miller; two sisters, Doris Bradford and Delma Woolery; and many other loved ones.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the Ellston Cemetery at Ellston, Iowa, with Pastor Joan Bonnett officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Monday after 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday evening to greet friends and relatives.
