Central’s Shuey on golf academic team

PELLA — Central College’s Chelsey Shuey (senior, Ames) was named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s All-American Scholars team Monday for the second straight year.

Shuey, a social science major, carried a 3.63 cumulative grade point average heading into her senior year. She posted an 86.2 stroke average last fall and earned all-Iowa Conference distinction after finishing seventh at the league tournament.

To be eligible for selection, honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and compete in a minimum of 12 varsity rounds. It’s the fifth consecutive year that the Dutch have had at least one player on the academic squad.
