Oskaloosa, Iowa (July 2nd, 2015) – For the 20th year in a row the Southern Iowa Speedway hosted the Budweiser Great American Stock Car Shootout and fans were not disappointed. Thursdays Night show saw last chance qualifiers, top eight dash and 30 lap big main events for IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Hobby Stocks plus the Iowa Sportsman Series was in attendance to race the half mile oval.

Cayden Carter (IMCA Stock Cars) took $2,000 for his win meanwhile Curtis VanDerWal (IMCA Northern SportMods) and Dustin Griffiths (IMCA Hobby Stocks) took $1,000 for their wins. Aaron Martin took the win in the Iowa Sportsman Series.

First feature of the night was the 20 lap Iowa Sportsman Series feature event. Wayne Webert and Aaron Martin started on the front row with Martin wrestled the lead away and never looked back despite lap traffic trying to slow him down. Martin took his first Iowa Sportsman Series victory over Darin Dezwarte, Gene Tish, Dave Seddon and Webert.

Curtis VanDerWal earned the pole in the KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMods by winning the dash earlier in the night and he took full advantage by grabbing the lead but just after two laps was completed Cory Van Zante and Kyle Hill got together in turn two. VanDerWal got a great restart and build up a large lead by the time another caution came out on lap 13 for Logan Anderson breaking a gear coming down the front stretch. Two laps later the caution came out for the mid race compition caution. VanDerWal saw the caution come out for the final time just after the 16th circuit was completed when Brayton Carter came to a stop on the front-stretch. VanDerWal was not to be denied as he went on to take the victory, his 6th win of the season at Osky. VanDerWal also had his shocks claimed after the race by Van Zante. Jason McDaniel finished second, Tim Plummer was third, Brett Lowry was credited fourth after Aaron Osweiler was DQ in post race tech and Van Zante worked his way back to fifth.

Craig Brown and Dustin Griffiths led the field to the green in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks main event and it was Dustin Griffiths grabbing the top spot but Brown challenged several times just could not make the pass. The only caution in the event was the midway pit stop but not even that could deny Griffiths the win. Griffiths picked up his fourth win of the season at Osky along with the big check. Danny Thrasher got by Craig Brown for second with two laps to go. Bill Bonnett came across in fourth but was DQ in post race tech for ignition box not working right so that moved Nick Ulin and Travis Bunnell to fourth and fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Grand finale for the Budweiser Great American Stock Car Shootout featuring the IMCA Stock Cars. Derrick Agee won the Dash earlier in the night and Damon Murty got second so they started on the front row for the 30 lapper. Murty took advantage and grabbed the early lead with Agee staying right behind him. Mike Hughes, Nathan Wood and Cayden Carter battled for position behind them. Murty saw the caution come out on lap six when Jerry Pilcher spun on the exit of turn two. Murty looked as if he was going to take the big check home but after the halfway pit stop it was Cayden Carter taking the lead away on lap 19. Carter lead the remaining laps to take the win over Murty, Zack Vanderbeek, David Brandies and Agee.

Also Announced on Thursday Night was the three gentlemen to join the Southern Iowa Speedway Hall of Fame, and they are Dean Sylvester, Danny Wallace and Jim Brown. Those three guys will be inducted on Wednesday July 15th at Intermission of the Southern Iowa Fair Races featuring the rescheduled Hawkeye Dirt Tour event.
