OSKALOOSA, IA — Add adventure to your summer with the Daily Youth Theatre’s Summer Theatre Camp! Investigate mysteries, attend Hogwarts, play games, sing, dance, and most of all, act!

The second half of the Summer Theatre Camp kicks off on July 6. Campers in grades K-5 will create thrilling tales of suspense in Tales of Mystery while 6-12 graders work on their spontaneity during an !mprov camp styled after Whose Line Is It Anyway? The week of July 13-17, campers of all grades can take up wands as the chosen hero during Hogwarts Academy, a camp based on the world of Harry Potter.

Turn into an acting, singing, and dancing triple threat during Musical Theatre week! Available for K-12, the camp runs July 20-24. Finish out the summer with a two-week production July 27-31 and August 3-7. Campers will work with a professional script on a polished performance. Add in sets, lights, sound, and costumes and the Daily Youth Theatre is ending the summer with a bang.

Camp runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. At the end of each session, campers will showcase what they created for friends and family. Registrations are accepted up to and on the first day of camp and thanks to a partnership with the Summer Lunch Program, healthy meals and snacks are provided for every student.

The Summer Theatre Camp is taught by Education Director Andy McGuire. He holds a B.A. in Theatre from Central College and has taught theatre around the Midwest for 7 years. Alongside his work at the George Daily Auditorium, McGuire is also the president of the Oskaloosa Community Theatre and an adjunct professor at William Penn University.

Allison McGuire is a lead teacher and holds a Masters of Music degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She works as an opera director around the country and has taught theatre and music for 10 years. McGuire is also an adjunct professor at Central College and William Penn University.

Beth Waller and Evy Wells work as counselors for the camp. Waller is pursuing a degree at William Penn University and Wells will transfer to Simpson College after attending Southwestern Community College.

Discounts are available for returning campers and families with multiple campers. Financial aid is also available and should be discussed on a case-by-case basis with the Education Director.
