On Thursday, June 25, 2015 the Oskaloosa Police Department arrested and charged Gregory Wade Bonnett, age 38, of Oskaloosa Iowa with 1st Degree Theft and 3rd Degree Burglary. These charges stem from an investigation into his involvement in a reported burglary at Malcom Lumber in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Gregory Wade Bonnet is currently incarcerated at the Mahaska County Jail waiting for an initial appearance on the above charges.

On May 25, 2015 it was reported to the Oskaloosa Police Department that sometime during Memorial Weekend 2015 person or person’s unknown forced entry into the business after normal business hours. It was also reported that monies and merchandise in excess of ten thousand dollars had been stolen from the business.

Burglary in the 3rd Degree is a Class “D” felony punishable by up to five years in a state penitentiary.

Theft in the 1st Degree is a Class “C” felony punishable by up to ten years in a state penitentiary.

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
