Blomgren Sworn In As New County Attorney
Oskaloosa, Iowa – At the beginning of May, Mahaska County Attorney Amy Zenor handed in her resignation to the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors.
Her last day in office was May 29th, and in her absence, the Marion County Attorney’s Office was assisting Mahaska County.
That arrangement continued until Attorney James Q. Blomgren was recently appointed Interim County Attorney and took over the office on June 22, 2015. Blomgren was sworn in at 8:15 am by Eighth Judicial Judge Randy DeGeest.
Blomgren was appointed June 2nd after three potential candidates were interviewed for the position. The Supervisors voted 2-1 in favor of Blomgren. Vander Molen and Van Weelden voted yes, while Doland voted no.
Blomgren had returned to private practice at the beginning of 2013 after retiring from the bench December 6, 2012. He had served as a District Court Judge since 1998 and as Chief Judge of Iowa’s Eighth Judicial District since 2001.
