Oskaloosa–William Penn University Sports Information Director Wade Steinlage was named the 2014-2015 Midwest Collegiate Conference SID of the Year Thursday.

Steinlage has spent the past 11 years on the Oskaloosa campus, serving the University in the promotion of Statesmen athletics. Beyond being solely responsible for maintaining and producing all the material on WPU’s athletics website (www.statesmenathletics.com), he also manages the content on all of the social media channels, headlined by @WPUAthletics on Twitter. He has headed three website redesigns.

Steinlage was responsible for implementing video webstreaming prior to the fall of 2011; he is also the play-by-play personality for several sports. He produces all of the media guides and in the spring of 2014 also began State of the Statesmen–a video series featuring weekly interviews of players and coaches.

Steinlage is also the school’s NAIA Champions of Character Liaison, serves on its Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, and represents the Athletics Department on the Staff Council.

Outside of William Penn, Steinlage is the national chair of the CoSIDA Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. He also worked as the MCC SID from August 2012 until the league’s closure this spring.
