Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors met on Friday to review the applications that were received for the soon to be vacant county attorney position.

Supervisors Mark Doland and Willie Van Weelden reviewed the six applications. Supervisor Mike Vander Molen was absent due to a medical condition with his family.

Doland and Van Weelden whittled the selection down to 3, including two local applicants, former Mahaska County Assistant County Attorney Misty White, and former Chief Judge James Blomgren. Both attorneys are currently in private practice, which could cause some potential conflicts of interest at a later time.

A decision on an interim county attorney will be made at the next scheduled meeting of the board on June 1st, at 9am on the 3rd floor of the Mahaska County Courthouse.
