Cold, Wet, Rainy, still “Game On” at the Lacey Recreation Complex
Despite the cold temperatures and the rain of Friday night into Saturday morning, games for the “Spring Fever Frenzy” USSSA girls softball tournament were played over the weekend at the Lacey Recreation Complex. Saturday saw a three hour delay but games were underway by 11 AM and the tournament still managed to get the last game started by 7 PM. The score keeper from Johnston stated, “You guys have a really nice facility! There is no way we could have played in Johnston today.”. By the start of the boys game in Des Moines (delayed 7 PM start time) the girls were finishing up at Lacey on Saturday. Sunday brought higher temperatures and a beautiful day for the record-high 49 team tournament. Oskaloosa teams Osky Blaze 10UB and Osky Rebels 14UC made it to the championship games, each taking second. First place winners were Warren County Crushers 12UB; Lindell Sully Hawks 12UC; Southeast Iowa Predators 14UC; Davis Co Lightning 10UC and Ankeny Extreme 10UB. Spectators cheering the teams topped 1,000. For more pictures visit MCRF Facebook page at mcrf.laceyrecreation.
