Hosta: the Lazy Gardener’s Best Friend

Iowa State University Extension

Iowa State University Extension

Julie Johnston, Jefferson County Master Gardener and member of Russ O’Hara, the Harshbarger, Midwest and American Hosta Societies will present Tuesday, March 10 at 7 pm at the Mahaska County Extension Office, 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa.

Her hosta interest began 20 years ago, and she now has 175 varieties. (She acknowledges she isn’t done yet!) Julie’s presentation will cover pests, diseases, and why the hosta is considered the friendship plant. Her former work at the Fairfield Ledger and interest in photography results in many photos used in the presentation. This presentation is open to the public and free to attend. Prior registration is not required, but appreciated.
