Page, Seabold ranked headed to regionals
PELLA— Daniel Page (senior, Tumwater, Wash.) and Matt Seabold (sophomore, Burlington) both enter the postseason ranked after the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III rankings.
Page (20-5) remained seventh at 125 pounds this week after receiving a forfeit victory over Simpson in Central’s regular season finale. Page has registered nine falls this season, including four in the first period. He finished the Iowa Conference dual season at 6-1, his only loss coming at the hands of No. 6 Jake Agnitsch of Wartburg.
Seabold (20-4), ranked No.8, has won 18 of his last 19 matches dating back to November 22. Seabold is undefeated against Iowa Conference competition and is one of three conference wrestlers ranked at 197 pounds.
Four Iowa Conference teams retained their spots in this week’s poll. Wartburg, Luther, Coe, and Loras all remain unchanged from their previous slots at No. 1, No. 16, No. 17 and No. 28 respectively.
The 13-team Central Regional will take place Saturday in Dubuque at the Five Flags Center. The eight Iowa Conference schools will be joined Cornell, Augustana (Ill.), Knox (Ill.), Huntingdon (Ala.) and the University of the Ozarks (Ark). The top three wrestlers at each weight class will advance to the NCAA Division III Championships in Hershey, Pennsylvania on March 13-14.
