Seed Starting—Lunch & Learn – Friday, March 6

Mahaska County Extension and Master Gardener Linda Spears will offer an opportunity to learn about starting your own seeds. Linda has started seeds for over six years, especially heirloom tomatoes. Linda and her husband have just constructed their own small greenhouse. Bring your lunch and learn from Linda!

Noon to 1pm – Presentation and Questions (can come to this only or stay for the next session)

1 – 2 pm – Hands-on planting session. (Instructions will be at the noon session.)

Materials for Hands-on participants to bring: Planting trays (these are the little pots that have several cells), Flat to put trays into (this will keep the trays secure and catch any excess water), Seed Starting Mix, Seeds, Labels (something to stick into the pot to label what you are growing), Garden Marker or grease pencil to write on the labels.

This lunch and learn is open to the public and free to attend. It will be held at the Mahaska County Extension Office, 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa.
