Are you or your children interested in learning about hunting wild turkeys this spring? The Mahaska County Conservation Board is offering a Turkey Hunting and Safety Seminar on Saturday, March 28th from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm at the Russell Wildlife Area. This seminar is designed to help turkey hunters of all skill levels learn about turkey biology, turkey hunting laws and ethics, preparing for the hunt, calling hunting techniques, field dressing and taxidermy. Speakers at the seminar include Jim Coffey (Iowa DNR), John Steinbach (Iowa DNR Conservation Officer), Jason and Keane Maddy (local turkey hunters/Quaker Boy Pro Staff), and Laura DeCook (MCCB Naturalist). There is no cost to attend! Lunch will be provided through a free-will donation. Space is limited. For questions and to sign up, call MCCB at (641)673-9327 or email decook@mahaskacounty.org.

The Russell Wildlife Area is located at 2254 – 200th Street which is four miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street.
