Norma Jean Sparks, 88, of Oskaloosa passed away Wednesday, February, 25, 2015, at Mahaska Heath Partnership. Norma Jean Sparks, daughter of James H. and Alta (Medley) Schroyer, was born January 2, 1927, in rural New Sharon, Iowa.

Norma attended country school in rural Mahaska County and graduated from New Sharon High School in 1945. After her education, she was married to Jim Sparks. To this union, four children were born. They later divorced.

Norma stayed at home and raised her children while they were young. She later began working at Superior Ideal Manufacturing, picking parts on the line. She worked at Superior Ideal for 17 years, before starting at Clow Valve Company in the pay roll department. She worked at Clow for 15 years before retiring in 1980.

Norma enjoyed crocheting, knitting, puzzles and spending time with family and friends. Norma had been a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary since 1977.

Norma’s family includes her daughter, Marsha (& Danny) Ferree of Oskaloosa; three sons: Jim (& Nancy) Sparks of Oskaloosa, Phillip Sparks of Evans, IA, and Patrick Sparks of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Sparks; a brother, Jim Schroyer; and a sister, Katie Barry.

Private graveside services will be held for Norma at a later date. As was her wish, her body has been cremated.
