Ruth M. Oliverson, 94, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Pella Hospice Comfort House in Pella. She was born October 2, 1920, at Lacey, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Mary Carriker Dilley.

Ruth graduated from Lacey High School with the class of 1938. On June 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Oliverson at Kansas City, Missouri, and LeRoy died October 26, 1988.

LeRoy was career military, thus the family moved as he would receive new assignments, and Ruth enjoyed moving all over the country. Following LeRoy’s honorable discharge, the family settled back in Oskaloosa. Ruth worked as a waitress in numerous restaurants including, Woolworth’s, the old Maid Rite, and the old Dairy Queen. Lastly, Ruth worked for the Oskaloosa Community School District in the Hot Lunch program, until she retired at the age of 75.

Ruth enjoyed hosting and entertaining her family and friends. She loved to play Bingo, shop, and travel. She was a member of the Good News Chapel in Oskaloosa.

Her family includes her two children and their spouses: Diana (& Richard) Crook and Danny (& Sharon) Oliverson, all of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren: Darren McKeag (& Missy Webb), Dustin Oliverson (& Stephanie Weisenbach), Sonya (& Mark) Schultz, Heather (& Joey) Crifo, Tim (& Kathy) Crook, and Tina (& Bryan) Hipsher; ten great grandchildren: Cass McKeag, Kian McKeag, Amanda Schuring, Bryon Schuring, Seth Crook, Andy Ruiz, Dylan Ruiz, Holly (& Jess) Greenhalgh, Liam Oliverson, and Parker Schultz; four great great grandchildren: Haleigh Burk, Kailyn Burk, Lexi Burk, and Chase Greenhalgh; a sister, Erma Allgood of Waukee; a sister in law, Betty Dilley of Oskaloosa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Besides her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dale Dilley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 11 a.m., and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Comfort House, Pella.
