Jonathan McCombs, 32, of Oskaloosa passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015, at his home. Jonathan “Johnny” Lee McCombs, son of Donald LeRoy and Vickie Lea (McDonald) McCombs, was born, March 18, 1982, in Oskaloosa.

Johnny was a 2001 graduate of Oskaloosa High School, where he was a drummer in the marching band.

After high school, Johnny worked as a machinist at Oskaloosa Engineering for a time. He was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed solving mechanical problems.

Johnny enjoyed music of all types and was the lighting technician for the band “The Scream’n Peas” for several years. He also enjoyed following the band “Rukkus”.

He was an active member of the Eagles’ Lodge and over the years held several offices.

Johnny’s family includes: his mother, Vicki McCombs of Oskaloosa; a sister, Missy McCombs of Oskaloosa; a niece, Amanda Veldhuizen of Pella; his maternal grandmother, Bess (Marvin) Uitermarkt of Oskaloosa; his maternal grandmother, Regina McDonald of Chariton, IA; many uncles, aunts and cousins; a special aunt, Margaret (& Kenny) Chitwood of Oskaloosa; a special cousin, Amber Marie Farrell of Chariton; and his dear little companion, his dog, Gracie Marie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donnie, on January 13, 1993; his grandfather, John McDonald; grandfather, Rube Smith; grandparents, Glenn and Dorothy McCombs; and an uncle Bill McCombs.

Funeral Services for Johnny will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday morning, February 19, 2015, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Reverend Mike Omundson of The First Christian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Beacon Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral chapel. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter or to the Eagles Lodge Aerie #276.
