Sugarmakers in the Sugarbush

at Russell Wildlife Area

8:30 – 10:00 am

If you would like to help the Mahaska County Conservation Board collect maple tree sap that will be made into maple syrup, then come out to the Russell Wildlife Area on Friday, February 20th from 8:30-10:00 am. We will hike down to the sugarbush area and you will be able to help us collect sap directly from the trees. Afterwards, we will discuss the rest of the syruping process. Syrup from this program will be used at the Maple Syruping Festival that will be held at Eveland Access on March 7th. Dress for the weather and expect some hiking. Pre-registration is appreciated. The Russell Wildlife Area is located 4 miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street. This program may be postponed due to weather. Please call if you have questions!
