Oskaloosa–The WPU wrestling program will need to perform better than its seedings to get an abundance of grapplers to nationals as the NAIA’s fourth top-20 poll was released Wednesday.

Currently, two Statesmen are ranked nationally with Scottie Bonds (So., Chicago, Ill., Physical Education) fifth at 141 pounds and Kyle Soderblom (Sr., Newton, Iowa, Biology) 13th at 197 pounds. As a team, William Penn is down to #24 with 24.5 points.

Grand View continues to be first with 184 points, while Southern Oregon is second with 104 points. Great Falls (Mont.) (97.5 points), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (91 points), and Montana State-Northern (84 points) round out the top five.

William Penn is still fourth in the North Qualifying Group with 73 points, while #6 Concordia (Neb.) has 190 points for first place.

Bonds is second regionally, while Soderblom is fourth. Jay Fresh (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Sociology) moves into fifth at 165, while 125-pounder Khalil Williams (Fr., Decatur, Ala., Physical Education), 157-pounder Charlton Benjamin (Sr., Atlanta, Ga., Sociology), and 174-pounder Ishmael Rempson (Sr., Olympia Fields, Ill., Industrial Technology) are all sixth at their respective weights.

The top four finishers in each weight at the Qualifying Group Tournaments will advance to nationals along with a few chosen at-large berths.
