Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Jazz Band Earns Division I

EBFHS Jazz I at Central College

On Saturday, January 31st, the Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont High School Jazz Band earned a division I rating at the State Jazz Band Contest in Pella. The band has earned a division I rating eleven of the last thirteen years. E.B.F.H.S. Jazz I is directed by Joe Overton. The band has 21 members this year.

On February 6th, the EBFHS Jazz I and Jazz II performed at the Central College Jazzmania Festival. Both bands had the honor of working with distinguished Jazz Educator Ron Carter. The next competition for Jazz I will be at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival on February 28th. On March 7th, the band will defend their title at the SEIBA District Jazz Contest in Iowa City. The annual Jazz Band Concert will be on March 19th at 7:00. Friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend.
