Elmer L. Bussey, 85, of Bussey died Friday, November 21, 2014, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. He was born October 13, 1929, in Bussey, the son of Jessie and Mary Eveland Bussey.

Elmer graduated from Bussey High School with the class of 1947. Following graduation he stayed in Bussey and continued to farm.

Elmer was a member of the Bussey United Methodist Church. He had served on the Board of Directors for the State Bank of Bussey. He enjoyed wintering in Texas, reading, and studying history.

His family includes cousins: John W. (& Phyllis) Eveland, Paul R. (& Rose) Eveland, Warren (& Adeline) Eveland, Duane (& Elaine) Eveland, Eugene (& Gloria) Eveland, all of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James Bussey.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Bussey United Methodist Church in Bussey with Pastor Rebekkah Shrimplin officiating.
Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery at Bussey. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday morning from 10 until service time at 11 in the Bussey United Methodist Church.
