Central’s Osborn named co-conference athlete of the week
PELLA — Central College football running back Josh Osborn was named co-Iowa Conference male athlete of the week Tuesday after a career day on the gridiron in a Dutch win Saturday.
Osborn carried the ball a school-record 45 times, accumulating 254 rushing yards and three touchdowns, in Central’s 38-7 win over Dubuque. His career-high 254 yards were the third most in a game in Dutch history.
Osborn’s conference-leading 1,284 rushing yards are sixth on the school’s single-season leaderboard and his 3,173 career yards are good for fourth place in the Central record books. The Central running back’s three-touchdown game was his fourth of the season and brought his season total to 15 rushing touchdowns, more than any running back in the conference.
The Dutch finished the season in second place in the conference standings with a 6-1 mark in league play and an 8-2 record overall.
