Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force Press Release
Reference: Execution of search warrant at 1105 Columbus in Pella, IA
On November 20, 2014 at approximately 01:45 a.m. members of the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force along with the assistance of the Pella Police Department executed a drug search warrant at 1105 Columbus in Pella where multiple methamphetamine manufacturing materials were seized along with illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the search warrant one individual was taken to the Marion County Jail on drug charges awaiting initial appearance. Roger Neil Byers of that address was charged with manufacturing more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, conspiracy to manufacture more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, possession of precursor with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine (pseudoephedrine) and possession of a precursor with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine (lithium).
Conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine more than 5 grams and manufacturing methamphetamine more than 5 grams are both class B felonies and possession of a precursor with intent to manufacture methamphetamine is a class D felony (2 counts).
The Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force is based in Des Moines and currently has 15 central Iowa agencies participating in the task force including the Jasper and Marion County Sheriff’s Offices, Knoxville, Newton, and Pella Police Departments.
