Betty Haines, 69, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, November 16, 2014, after a brief illness at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. She was born April 15, 1945, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of James Arthur and Helen McAdoo Randall.
On April 10, 1972, she was united in marriage to Larry Haines at St. Paul, Minnesota. Betty worked at the old Monarch Laundry and later for Pella Corporation.
Betty enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, working in puzzle books, long walks, cooking and baking.
Her family includes her husband, Larry Haines of Oskaloosa; three children: Nick (& Penny) Witt of Oskaloosa, Scott Witt, Sr. of Eddyville, and Brenda Sams of North English; nine grandchildren: Dustin Witt, Natasha Witt, Lisa Witt, Kendra Stephanie, Scott Witt, Jr., Naythan Witt, Christina (& Blake) Graham, Cody Sams and Steve Sams; fifteen great grandchildren: Christian Smith, Conner Smith, Hunter Smith, Tyler Smith, Abel Brummel, Jasmine Stephanie, Nicholas Stephanie, Carmen Stephanie, Hemi Witt, Domanic Sams, Diva Sams, Benjamin Sams, Gracie Graham, Bailey Sams and Vanessa Pettyjohn; two brothers: Leo Randall of Richland, and Danny (& Anna) Randall of Oskaloosa.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Christopher Pettyjohn.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Bates Funeral Chapel.
As was Betty’s wish her body has been cremated, burial will be at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is charge of the arrangements.
