Emery Black, 57, of Taintor died Friday, November 14, 2014, of injuries from a house fire. He was born December 20, 1956, in Eddyville, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Marjorie Stice Black.

Emery attended school at Eddyville. Emery had worked at Wal-Mart in Oskaloosa and lastly worked at Midwest Sanitation in Oskaloosa until an injury forced his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his yard and taking rides in the county.

His family includes his common-law wife of over 27 years, Judy Clenin of Taintor; two sisters: Cheryl (& Steve) Davis of Eddyville and Kathy (& Fred) Davis of Eddyville; two step sons: Damion Jones of Norcross, Georgia, and Stewart Jones of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and many nieces.

Emery was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the New Sharon United Methodist Church in New Sharon with Reverend Terry Pollard officiating.
As was Emery’s wish, his body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Judy Clenin to help her through this difficult time.
